How did Arizona fare in its 42-16 victory over No. 5 Oregon on Saturday?

— The Arizona Wildcats did not turn the ball over for the fourth time this season. Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota had two interceptions and the Ducks fumbled the ball. The other turnover-free games were against UTSA, USC and Cal. UA’s turnover margin is plus-7 this season. B.J. Denker has not thrown an interception in the last two games, a streak of 60 consecutive passes (with 45 completions).

— For the second consecutive game, the Arizona Wildcats did not achieve at least 10 plays of 12 yards or more. They had only seven against the Ducks. What it means: Arizona killed Oregon with short, efficient runs and passes, a la Stanford. The Wildcats had 29 first downs and led the time of possession (35:29 to 24:31). They averaged 5.5 yards per play.

— For the 10th consecutive game, Arizona managed at least five drives of at least eight plays. In the loss to Washington State, the last two drives were 23 plays for 116 yards but Arizona had nothing to show for them with a missed field goal and turnover on downs. The Oregon game was much different. In five drives of at least eight plays the Wildcats scored a touchdown each time.

— The Wildcats were a phenomenal 12-of-17 in third- and fourth-down conversion (percentage of 70.6). Arizona has topped the goal of 55 percent in only one other game this season, against UTSA in the third game of the season.

— For the second game this season, Arizona stopped an opponent inside its 10 while getting the ball in the process. On Oregon’s first possession of the second half, Mariota’s incomplete pass intended for Josh Huff at the Arizona 6 allowed the Wildcats to take over, preserving their 28-9 lead.

— Oregon recorded three turnovers against Arizona, the first opponent to record at least that amount since UTSA in the third game of the season.

— Arizona tackled a kickoff returner eight times within the 20 yard line in the first five games of the season. The Wildcats then went five games without such a feat until doing it three times against Oregon.

— On consecutive punts in the second quarter, Arizona punter Drew Riggleman pinned Oregon within its 10 yard line (once at the 4 and the other at the 1). Riggleman had only three punts downed inside the 10 previously, against Colorado and Cal and the season-opener against NAU.

HELMET STICKER CRITERIA

The Wildcats earn cat claws for the Arizona helmet if they achieve these following marks. This grading system is stringent. The Wildcats must achieve their goal. If it states the UA must achieve “more than” a certain mark, they must pass that mark. This helmet will be updated weekly as the Wildcats attempt to fill the helmet with the cat claws:
