Former Sabino soccer standout Shannon Shields only played in 13 games for Sam Houston State last season due to a recurring back injury but she still managed to score four goals, good enough for second most on the team. Two of her goals were game winners.
Shields was recognized by the Southland Conference for academic standing and received a spot on the Southland Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Her back injury forced her to return to Tucson to recuperate and she plans to rejoin the Tucson Soccer Academy and work her way to a full recovery and play for Pima. Her TSA team will be going for their third state championship in a row.
