Tucson City Junior Golf Championship

May 27-28: Randolph Golf Complex

The Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA) announced today that the Tucson City Junior Championship will tee off May 27-28 featuring 175 Arizona junior golfers (boys and girls) ages 8-18 competing in five age groups. The Randolph Golf Complex – Dell Urich Golf Course and Randolph North Golf Course – will be the host venues for the tournament with tee times beginning at 6:30 a.m. each day.

“The Tucson Conquistadores, Tucson City Golf and the Southern Chapter of the Southwest Section PGA have come together to create a wonderful tournament for juniors to show their stuff,” said Scott McNevin, Executive Director of the JGAA. “We also look forward to partnering with the Ricki Rarick Junior Golf Program to boost participation from local players. In a big way, all of these groups foster the competitive spirit among Arizona’s junior golfers and help shape the character of our future community leaders through the game of golf.”

This year the field in the Boys Championship Division is highlighted by several local players (field below). Trevor Werbylo, a student at Salpointe Catholic, enters the field after winning the Tucson Conquistadores Spring Classic last month. He also recently posted a T9 finish at the Thunderbird Invitational.

Gavin Cohen of Catalina Foothills notched a T2 finish at the Phoenix Metro Championship and a solo-second-place finish at the Charlie Beljan Invitational.

Kenyon Kautz of Ironwood Ridge finished the Tucson Conquistadores Spring Classic tied for 12th place and he signed a letter of intent to play golf for Hofstra University last fall.

In the Girls Championship Division, Kathryn Ottman, a student at Sahuaro, defended home turf last month with a win at the Tucson Conquistadores Spring Classic as well as a solo-second-place finish at the Desert Mashie Spring Championship.

Former The Gregory School standout Natassja Meredith enters the field after placing fifth at the Tucson Conquistadores Spring Classic and T9 at the Charlie Beljan Invitational.

Taylor Hughes, class of 2016 at Sahuaro, placed 12th in the Thunderbird Invitational and 7th in the Tucson Conquistadores Spring Classic. While Halley Hughes, class of 2019 playing in the 13-14 Girls Division, took solo-third place in the Phoenix Metro Junior Championship and T4 in the Tucson Conquistadores Spring Classic.
