Catalina High School Baseball Field
Sunday, August 9
4:00 PM
In an effort to promote college-bound high school baseball players from Southern Arizona, Kino Baseball League and Southern Arizona Baseball will field two teams which will travel to junior colleges in Arizona and New Mexico to showcase local players to coaches from those schools. One team will be limited to Seniors while the other will be open to Juniors and Sophomores. The teams will also play in a scout team tournament.
“The purpose of a scout team is to get players in front of coaches and allow coaches at the next level to assess the players’ talent, maturity, and character first hand,” said coach Shane Folsom. “Coaches also network which can lead to unexpected opportunities such as those we found for the players heading to Williston State,” added Folsom, who will be coaching the teams.
“Thanks to Garb Athletics generous sponsorship of this team, we will be able promote players from Tucson and help them reach the next level,” says Bill Leith of Kino Baseball League.
Players interested in trying out for the team should arrive at Catalina Magnet High School no later than 4 pm dressed out for practice, baseball pants and cleats. The cost for the scout team is $250 per player. For more information contact Shane Folsom at shane@sazb.info or 520-418-5137
