Every day we will have data related to the number of days remaining to kickoff — Texas-San Antonio vs. Arizona — on Sept. 3 at Arizona Stadium. That game is only 3 days away.
— Anthony Gimino compiled Arizona’s best player by jersey number while with TucsonCitizen.com three years ago. The best No. 3 according to Gimino is safety Tony Bouie (1991-94). He was an All-American with the famed Desert Swarm defense. He went on to play our seasons in the NFL with Tampa Bay.
For the third straight year, AllSportsTucson.com presents the Arizona Wildcats’ Top 50 games in the program’s history.
The ranking corresponds to the number of days left to the opening kickoff for the Arizona Wildcats against Texas-San Antonio on Sept. 3 at Arizona Stadium. We are only 3 days from the start of the 2015 football season.
The ranking each year is based on new research and judgments for all games, not just those from last season. This year, four new games join the ranking, including one played more than 50 years ago that — upon further review — deserves Top 50 status. That game was presented at No. 38. The No. 1-ranked game last year may not be the No. 1 this year.

Bouie was a starter in Arizona’s defensive secondary for four years after earning the starting free safety role three games into his redshirt freshman season in 1991. He culminated his career as Arizona’s ninth consensus All-America selection in 1994. He was a first-team selection by Walter Camp and the American Football Coaches Association. As a finalist for the Football News Defensive Player of the Year honors that senior season, he had 54 tackles, broke up five passes and intercepted another. In 1993, his six interceptions helped spearhead Arizona’s 10-2 reacord and a Fiesta Bowl Championship. A two-time first team All-Pac-10 player (1993 and 1994), his 13 career interceptions rated him number eight on Arizona’s all-time list at the time of his induction in the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame. He also was a member of Arizona’s baseball program as on outfielder.
Wearing No. 3 for Arizona this season is another defensive back, sophomore cornerback Cam Denson of Salpointe Catholic. He played in 12 games last year, starting the UCLA and Colorado games at cornerback. He totaled 21 tackles, including 18 solo stops, with two interceptions for 31 return yards. He also broke up two passes. He registered a career-high seven tackles at Washington State.
